Rebuild Muscle. Reclaim Life.

MS • STROKE • AMPUTEE • ALS • ELDERLY

Even if you’ve lost function, even if it's been years, even if you're in a wheelchair, missing a limb, or were told it's too late, we help your muscles grow back using science-backed neuro-muscular electrical stimulation. We specialize in lost causes.

We Help People the System Gave Up On

Have you been told by your doctor or neurologist that it’s just not physically possible to reverse your atrophy? Let’s prove them wrong.

Veterans with combat injuries or limb loss (Veterans are treated for free)

Stroke survivors with chronic muscle weakness

Seniors experiencing age-related muscle loss

MS patients with progressive or relapsing muscle decline

Amputees struggling to maintain their current muscle definition for prosthetics

Why Atrophy Is Bad for You

Before visiting Santa Cruz Atrophy Clinic

Muscle Loss Isn’t Just Cosmetic — It’s Dangerous

When muscles shrink, everything else becomes harder: standing, walking, eating, and breathing. Atrophy isn’t just about size; it’s about survival.

Atrophy isn’t just a symptom; it’s a downward spiral. And traditional medicine often shrugs. We don’t.

With neuromuscular stimulation, we can intervene, restoring muscle, rebuilding power, and helping you regain control before it's too late.

After visiting Santa Cruz Atrophy Clinic

Here’s what happens when you lose muscle:

  • Mobility declines, making falls, fractures, and injuries more likely

  • Metabolism slows, increasing weight gain, insulin resistance, and fatigue

  • Bones weaken because muscle contractions keep your skeleton strong

  • Heart and lung function suffer, especially if the core and diaphragm muscles are involved

  • Independence disappears, turning everyday tasks into major obstacles

  • Change in limb muscle mass can affect prosthetic fit, resulting in adjustments or new prosthetics over time

Case Studies

Case Study: 7 years bedridden to walking in 1 week

Her doctors said she would never walk again. After her 3rd session, she was able to walk. For the first time in 7 years! We were shocked by the results.

She was the first stroke patient in America to use Compex for Rehab.

Case study: 5 years post stroke, she was told she would never walk again without assistance.

She could barely move with a walker. She had to be helped out of the chair.

Muscle development 83 with Parkinson’s.

1 week later 🤷‍♂️

This stroke patient was told she would NEVER walk again without assistance. Her neurologist had totally given up.

2 weeks later she was doing 3 sets of 10 reps getting out of the chair by herself.

Exactly 5 weeks from starting, she does this (walks). Crazy! (She threw her walker away after 3 weeks.)

Case study: over 80 years old muscle development

Like we keep saying, if you have muscle fibers and neurons, you will grow muscles whether you want to or not.

This gentleman is 86 years young. We FaceTime once a week. He is doing great.

The Science Behind Reversing Muscle Atrophy

We Restore Muscle When Medicine Gives Up

After hearing, “There’s nothing left to try, " most people come to us. They’ve completed physical therapy, asked about surgery, and watched their muscles shrink while being told to “accept it.”

But we don’t rely on hope; we rely on physics.

Using proven neuromuscular electrical stimulation (eSTIM), we directly activate the muscles you can’t move independently. That stimulation causes real muscle contractions, triggering growth, rebuilding mass, and restoring function over time.

It’s the same technology Olympic athletes use between competitions. We bring it to the people who need it most.

You Don’t Need Full Control; You Need Muscle and Electricity

Most people think muscle growth only comes from lifting weights. That’s false.

Muscles grow when they contract under resistance, no matter how that contraction happens. eSTIM bypasses the need for voluntary movement, sending electrical signals straight to your muscles to make them work—the result: real training, real strength gains, and visible improvement.

Even if you’re dealing with MS, stroke, limb loss, or severe deconditioning, if you have muscle fibers and nerves, this works.

While elite athletes have had access to it for decades, everyday people rarely do. We’re changing that because this isn’t a miracle. It’s science, and it works.

There are two kinds of muscle fibers: slow twitch and fast twitch. As you get older, you physically can’t recruit these by lifting weights. This will recruit every muscle fiber you have and train it and all you have to do is sit in a chair. You will get stronger, faster.

With Rehab, they have you lift small weights and build to larger weights. With this, it’s like lifting 100 pounds right out of the gate.

Myth-Busting

What People Get Wrong About Muscle Recovery

Myth #1: "If I can’t move it, I can’t train it."

False. Muscle contraction doesn’t require voluntary movement. If you still have motor neurons and muscle tissue—even partially—eSTIM can stimulate those muscles directly, causing contractions that lead to real strength gains. We’ve helped stroke survivors and MS patients grow muscle in limbs they hadn’t moved in years.

Myth #2: "This must be a scam or placebo."

Nope. Neuromuscular electrical stimulation (NMES) is FDA-cleared and used by elite athletes, physical therapists, and rehab specialists worldwide. It’s backed by decades of research. We don’t gatekeep it; we bring it to those who need it most.

Myth #3: "Isn’t this just a TENS unit?"

Not at all. TENS is for pain relief. eSTIM or NMES is for muscle contraction. That means it trains your muscles to grow and strengthen, just like lifting weights—but without the weight. We use high-end Compex units, not generic Amazon devices.

Myth #4: "I’m too old / too weak / too far gone."

We've helped 80-year-olds with stroke damage. We've helped veterans with full leg amputations. We’ve helped people who were told “nothing more can be done.” If you’re alive and have muscle fibers, you’re not done.

Myth #5: "It must hurt."

It’s not painful. You’ll feel the muscle contract; it can be intense, especially as strength returns, but it’s totally tolerable. Most people find watching a muscle twitch that hasn’t moved in years weirdly satisfying.

Top FAQs

  • Neuromuscular electrical stimulation (NMES), called eSTIM, uses electrical pulses to cause involuntary muscle contractions. These contractions help build strength and stimulate muscle recovery, even when you can’t use the muscle alone.

  • No. Voluntary control is not required. Clients with complete paralysis in a limb still regain muscle tone and circulation. As long as the nerves and muscles are structurally intact, eSTIM can usually activate them.

  • Most clients notice visible changes, like muscle twitching, firmer tone, and minor strength improvements, within 2–4 weeks of regular sessions. Long-term gains build over months.

  • We currently operate on a free or subsidized care model for eligible patients, especially veterans, MSers, stroke survivors, and those on SSDI or Medicare. We’ll work with you to determine coverage or sponsorship.

  • We are located in the Bay Area, California. We primarily operate out of Santa Cruz. We can come to you, or you can come to us. Our team provides in-home sessions anywhere in the Santa Cruz area. All we need is a chair, a flat surface, and you. We also do virtual sessions over Zoom or FaceTime.

  • It depends. In cases of complete denervation, results may be limited. But if there’s any residual connection, even subclinical, we may be able to stimulate a response. We assess each case carefully and offer trials.

  • Yes—NMES has been used in sports and medical rehab for decades. Our devices are FDA-cleared, and we carefully assess each client before beginning sessions. If you have a pacemaker or electrical implant, we’ll review your case individually.

  • We use high-quality Compex devices like Olympic coaches and rehab centers, along with carefully placed electrodes, protocols developed by elite trainers, and individual muscle targeting strategies.

  • Yes. Clients often regain strength and make functional improvements, such as standing longer, walking with more confidence, or activating stabilizing muscles for better posture and fall prevention.

  • There isn’t one. We’re not selling miracle cures. We offer a proven, underused tool to help your body do what it was built to: adapt, grow, and recover—no matter how far gone you think you are.
